The benefits provided by the first SME lab in the region include access to information regarding trends in logistical innovation, an opportunity to work with tools and experts in the field, and support when designing projects that take advantage of available public resources.
Terminal Puerto Arica and the Professional Technical Education Institute INACAP are aware that innovation is a key component of regional development and growth. Therefore, they launched a program on Thursday, June 20 that promotes innovation in the Arica and Parinacota region, with the support of CORFO through its SMELAB, thus improving the competitiveness of the logistics industry.
This initiative is called SMELab and will involve collaboration with 7 terminal suppliers, Ddsultak, Fesanco, Ultraport, Sitrans, Arica Pallet, Tecnometal, TTPV, in order to strengthen logistics and export processes. It also includes talks, workshops and advice provided by a team of technical experts who will help participants to achieve a better understanding and give them the tools to develop innovation.
Therefore, participants will gain access to information regarding trends in logistical innovation, an opportunity to work with tools and experts in the field, and they will also receive support when designing projects that take advantage of available public resources.
This is fundamentally important for the terminal, which was recently awarded first place in the 2019 Creativity and Innovation C3 Ranking. In recent years it has been building a collaborative environment where sharing information generates benefits for the entire logistics chain, and customers can achieve the efficiencies associated with international standards.
Furthermore, Inacap students can actively participate in the program, as their thesis work could create innovations and improvements in port logistics.
